Armed with fiddle and squeezebox, Gleny Rae has become a regular face at folk festivals, ute musters and outback events.
In 2006, she formed specialist western swing band Gleny Rae Virus and her Tamworth Playboys with an aim to put the swing back in country music. The band’s first release Highrollin’ received national airplay and earned the band a top 5 finalist position in the Victorian Country Music Awards for Best Band.

Witness her unique style and catch the Virus on the dance floor!

Forced to confront her gender and race the performer attempts to physically articulate the experience of a modern, white woman living as a minority within the ancient cultures. Following one woman’s story this work is a personal reflection of the migratory experience. 人 is an experimentation of ideas discovered through Clown and Butoh, presented through a language free form.

A collection of the finest burlesque, comedians and cabaret performers in Darwin all join together to sizzle your senses.. there will be banana splitting burlesque from ms Lana del banana, sweet temptation from Maxi la Rose, a bit of bop and swing from the razzleberry belles and hopefully our ole pal Bazza from the doo will drop in to say hi.  It will be a show of territory themed debauchery and fun. Abstract Steel and X-ray Vision

Art Exhibition of Rustic Steel Garden Sculptures by Freedom Summers and Traditional Aboriginal paintings in Top End style by local elder Tibby Quall and family. Come and meet Tibby at the opening as he explains the paintings and give you a little insight into his land and culture.

 

The abstract steel sculptures were created in collaboration between Freedom Summers and Tibby’s brother/cousin Geoffrey May, Welder/technician.

Freedom studied Sculpture @ National Art School East Sydney completing a 3-year Diploma in Fine Art, 1992-95.

These Sculptures were inspired by Freedom’s teachers at the National Art School, Ron Robinson Swan and Michael Snape who are the leading Steel Sculptors in Australia.

James Mangohig has established himself as a respected and sought after producer with his groups SIETTA and DAMN MORODA . Having played at most major festivals and toured internationally he has collected music from around the world and loves to drop it on big sound systems in his DJ sets.
Local favourite MisS PosSum mixes a wide array of luscious midtempo electronica sourced from artists near and far with live and improvised violin to carry your spirit souring through the tropical breeze and beckoning you onto the dancefloor.
